Gracias por una fiesta inolvidable! Thank you for three fantastic days in Barcelona!

Gracias a todos por haber contribuido a crear una atmósfera maravillosa el día de mi cumpleaños. Rodeada de todos vosotros y arropada por vuestro cariño y vuestro humor,  ésta ha sido para mí la mejor manera de entrar en la "segunda mitad". Espero que lo pasaséis tan bien como yo lo pasé!

Aqui podreís encontrar dentro de poco las primeras fotos de la fiesta, protegidas con un código de seguridad. Confío en que podais poner las vuestras también y así poder compartir el recuerdo de la fiesta.

Thanks to you all for three fantastic days in Barcelona. Embraced by love and  friendship, moving together, this was for me the best way to enter the "second half" and cherishing what is most essential to me. I hope you had such a good time as I did!


Here you will soon find the first pictures from the tour and party, protected by a security code. I trust you can also upload your pictures in the same area so that we can all share the photo memories of the party.

Walk the run!

We will be 11 runners at La cursa dels Nassos. In alphabetical order these are Los morroskos de Noruega that will run on New Year's Eve:

We will meet the day before "la cursa" to walk together the 10 km and get to know the terrain. Tom, Albert, Jacob, Gabriel, Olav and Ferran will also join us that day to walk the run with us and be illustrated about a neighbourhood in Barcelona that we do not usually visit.

We meet on Thursday 30.12 at 16:00 in front of the door of Centre Esportiu Municipal Mar Bella (Avda. del Litoral del Mar, 86-96). This is where we should  pick up our race number and chip and the runners bag!

From there we go together and walk the run.

NYEve in Poble Espanyol

Good ! Now it seems to be settled !
Everybody wants to celebrate New Year's Eve dancing at Poble Espanyol.  I have managed to make a reservation of VIP tickets for us. A total of 32! It is going to be fun!

We can pick them up together on 31.12 in the morning when we meet for the Cathedral of the Sea tour. Good if you come with cash that day to pay the tickets (the tickets cost 35 EUR per person).

In the evening, most of you can meet at the main entrance in Torres de Ávila, Avda Marqués de Comillas, 13, around 22:30. You get intructions on how to arrive in the popular feast own webpage.  Our family will join you later, by 1:00 in the morning, after the grapes. We'll be in touch!

By the way, Tom has also managed to get the tickets for Camp Nou. He will send a message in due time on how to arrange for you to get these.

NYEve in Barcelona

The restaurants that are open at  New Year's Eve in Barcelona usually arrange a traditional "cotillon". There are no fireworks in Barcelona at New Year's Eve but instead we celebrate time with one grape for luck for each of the 12 chims of the bells and lots and lots of cava.

The "cotillon" consist of a special feast menu, with elaborated creations of all from 4 to 14 dishes and it is carefully organised to end by midnight with cava and grapes. In some cases, the restaurants even arrange a closed ball after midnight to celebrate the New Year.  It is a special once-a-year type of arrangement that brings a lot of revenue to the restaurants :-)  In other words : it costs! its costs a lot !

The alternative to these closed parties or "cotillones" is to join a popular feast. The one I recommended is at Poble Espanyol. There is an open ball and disco music.  It costs 35 EUR per person for a VIP entry (recommended because of the age of our group) and we have access to the best places in a closed area for 500 persons. The younger ones can go free to other areas is they so wish.

The party begins at 22:30 and ends when you drop... around 5:00 o'clock. The entry covers access to all areas and disco places, 5 drinks,  and hot chocolate in the short hours.  I have made some reservations for this option, so please let me know in the comment field if you want to join.

If you prefer a more quiet alternative, to save your dancing skills for the New Year party, I can recommend to contact "Les quinze nits" in Placa Reial. Their New Year's Eve menu is about half the price of all others (50 EUR) but they have a good reputation. This is a place where students of the gastronomy school of Barcelona make their pratices, so there is always long queues because of the good  food and the fair prices! The restaurant is in Placa Reial, worth a visit at any time.
